The 8th Fire Gathering

May 18, 2017

May 18 - 21, 2017

Thursday, May 18th at sunrise at Camp Collier Gardner, MA, the fire will be lit to begin the four days of the 8th Fire Gathering, a healing ceremony which began in 2008 at Earthlands in Petersham, MA. You are invited to join us for this event.

People from all walks of life, all races and all faiths, are invited to the 2017 “8th Fire Gathering” in the Northeast. Bring your passion, vision, skills, knowledge, and expertise to help create a positive future. We will continue to build on the work of past gatherings: healing our relationship to each other and the Earth and using the collective energy to weave a path of light towards a “new people.”

This will be a cross-cultural gathering where we will spend four days in nature, ceremony, and heart to heart conversation with the intention of making a “good way” ahead for Earth, her children, and all life. We will honor the wisdom and practices of Indigenous Peoples who have lived on Turtle Island successfully for thousands of years. Hear the voices of the grandmothers and grandfathers as they share the truths of their cultures.

The use of the term “8th fire” references the 7 Fires prophesy of the Anishinabeq people and the possibility, if we can find our way through this time, of coming to a new way of being in right relationship with ourselves, each other and the Earth.

“To date the sacred has been excluded from all discussions and decisions. To survive climate change and see the future, we must heal the sacred in ourselves and include the sacredness of all life in all discussions, decisions and actions.” — Indigenous Elders and Medicine Peoples Council statement, U.N. Convention on Climate Change 2015.
