Harvest Gathering

"Join us around the sacred fire."

The first Harvest Gathering was held in 1997. A gathering each year was held until 2003 - seven gatherings so far. The late elder Frank DiConte, who passed away in 2001, attended the first gathering in 1997 and brought the traditional teachings of the Algonquin people to this gathering, as were passed down to him through his elders and the native community of the Kitiganzibi Reserve in Maniwaki, Quebec.

Grandfather William Commanda is the Elder of this community, whose annual spiritual gathering the first weekend of each August has been the inspiration and model for many of the teachings and protocol at Harvest Gathering. Through the years, we have also invited spiritual leaders to provide teachings and ceremonies from other traditions - most notably elders Felipe and Elena Ixcot of the Mayan spritual tradition of Guatemala - to enrich our understanding and experience of the rainbow teachings of unity and spiritual harmony.

Harvest Gathering is always a special spiritual, recreational, healing and fun weekend for those who attend. Over the seven years, it has been held at four different campgrounds, a testment to its adaptability and resiliancy.

No Harvest Gathering was held in 2004 or 2005, however, we look forward to receiving the support and inspiration to hold the Gathering again very soon in New England. Please email us at harvest@spiritofchange.org for more information.
