Year of the Monkey: Touch the Sky

This year, the “Year of the Red Fire Monkey” new moon arrives on February 8.

Published:

In ancient China, a culture that established an early written language, the 60-year luni-solar agricultural cycle was identified by Emperor Huang-Ti in 2637 BC, and farmers have followed this Chinese agricultural calendar for over 4,000 years. Annually, the Chinese New Year celebration shifts between January and February to coincide with the second new moon after the winter solstice. This year, the “Year of the Red Fire Monkey” new moon arrives on February 8.

Does the timing of the equinox and solstices relative to the new moon tell us something about this year's crops?

In earlier cultures, when the sky served as both the clock and the calendar, the timing of the spring floods, the growing season, and animal husbandry were a matter of individual and communal survival. Reverence for these frequencies, encoded in time, are now a matter of societal and planetary survival.

A colleague mentioned to me that he kept meticulous notes about what thrived in his garden last year. He plans to cultivate only the plants that grew well in 2015 next summer. But as any gardener of tomatoes can attest, his plan may end in disappointment, because the summer of 2016 will be very different from the summer of 2015.

Recognition of the chasm between culture informed by nature and culture that has lost its living literacy with deep ecology will determine what happens to all of us in this generation.

On January 13, 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court denied farmers the right to argue their case to gain protection from their crops being contaminated by the agrichemical and genetic engineering giant Monsanto. Despite lack of U.S. action, the international community has initiated proceedings and Monsanto will be tried for crimes against humanity before the Hague's International Criminal Court on October 16, 2016 for charges of ecocide and crimes against humanity and nature.

While the U.S. moves to sue the auto manufacturer Volkswagen for falsifying emissions records, Americans have not been protected from false EnergyStar ratings for appliances that did not save money or energy, and unfounded safety claims about wireless utility meters, school wifi, and antennas in residential areas that emit a Class 2B possible human carcinogen. The United States is favoring economic growth of the wireless industry over health and environmental concerns regarding damage caused by microwave technologies.

Nature is warning Americans in a multitude of ways that wireless technology devoid of reverence for rhythms of frequency is most likely unleashing a wave of neurological illnesses. Across our lifespan, from autism to ADHD to autoimmune illnesses to Alzheimer’s, Americans are not thriving. Millions are suffering from preventable functional impairments that are sourced in the environment, from Flint, Michigan to Southboro, MA, the site of a Americans with Disabilities school wifi lawsuit.

Dr. Toril Jelter asks, “Is my need to talk to anyone, anywhere more important than a child’s need to talk at all in a lifetime?”

Do the range of conditions on the autism spectrum represent how radio frequencies, heavy metals, and environmental toxins impact the 17 different constitutions recognized in the ancient Ayurvedic tradition?

Are adults experiencing the onset of crippling electromagnetic hypersensitivity demonstrating a range of autism symptoms, including leaky gut and metabolic dysregulation, that coincide with the twelve constitutional types of Chinese medicine?

From Ireland to China, as the seeds underground begin to awaken in early February and turn to face the sun, householders clean their homes and clear their consciousness to welcome the energies of the New Year, with reverence born of respect for wisdom passed down for generations.

Unless the Internet of things, machine-to-machine communication, and the multitude of wireless consumer devices are reigned into harmony with the life-giving frequencies of the natural electromagnetic environment, a generation of Americans, including those seeking to address the health and environmental consequences of the fossil fuel model, will continue to manifest the next wave of planetary destruction.

J. Krishnamurti stated, "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." It's time to turn the tide and touch the sky, not with Google Loon balloons, but with gratitude and an opened compassionate heart that is in resonance with the planetary energy field's universal abundance. In the face of mounting evidence of harm, Aldous Huxley noted, "Eternal vigilance is the price of human decency.”

Patricia Burke works with activists across the country and internationally calling for new biologically-based microwave radio frequency exposure limits. She can be reached at stopsmartmetersMASS@gmail.com.
