Holotropic Breathwork is an approach of self-exploration that integrates the latest insights from modern consciousness research with transpersonal psychology and mystical traditions from around the world. It combines breathing practices and evocative music in a safe setting, allowing individuals to access states of consciousness that activate our own natural healing potential. With this “inner healer” guiding the process, the quality and content brought forth is unique to each person and for that particular time and place. It can bring about transformation at all levels of self. Other elements of the practice include creative expression via art-making, focused bodywork (when applicable), group processing, and integration.
Breathwork is particularly supportive of the following:
An information packet explaining how to prepare and what to bring will be sent to all registrants prior to the event.
All registrants will also be required to complete and return a medical form prior to the event.
Please see the list of contraindications below before registering.
Contraindications: Breathwork is a safe practice but is not appropriate for women who are pregnant or anyone with recent surgeries, fractures, spinal injuries, or if you have osteoporosis. It is not advisable for persons with glaucoma or untreated high blood pressure. Persons with severe mental illness taking psychiatric medications should contact the facilitator(s) before attending an event. Persons with asthma must bring their inhaler. Persons with acute infectious or communicable conditions are asked to avoid the class at this time. Failure to disclose any of these conditions will shall not represent a liability to the facilitator(s). Upon registration medical forms will be sent to each participant that must be submitted prior to the event.
Cost: $150 until July 25th, $175 after.
A limited number of student and other hardship rates will be considered individually based on need and space. Individuals requesting this may be asked to volunteer in some capacity that could include assisting with setting up the space, preparing food for the group, etc. Contact the facilitators at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to request a hardship rate.
A vegetarian meal will be provided and there is an on-site kitchen for storing food for special diets.

Ellen Wolfe, MS HTR , GTT Certified Facilitator.
Ellen is a Vermont native who spent many decades living in Tennessee teaching Horticultural Therapy at Tennessee Tech University and was on the staff at the Gaither Generations Skylar House where she worked with challenged populations. A former elementary school teacher, Ellen has masters degrees in Education and Transpersonal Psychology. Ellen is also a Transpersonal Life Coach and a small business owner of Life Transitions. Ellen currently lives in Western MA.
Allen Howell, M.Ed. LMHC, GTT Certified Facilitator.
Allen is a licensed therapist, trauma specialist, and SE (spiritual emergency) coach in the Boston area. His clinical experiences include treatment and stabilization for at-risk populations effected by homelessness, trauma, addiction, and other mental health issues. He has also facilitated batterer intervention (IPV) programs for men who have committed abuse against their partners. Allen combines his clinical experience with mindfulness approaches to well-being and has also studied indigenous/shamanic healing and counseling practices with several teachers.
