I grew up with the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” What a load of hooey! What we say matters. The words we say to others and to ourselves have a significant impact on our state of being, our happiness and self-esteem.
Recently, I asked the universe to provide me with a sign of guidance (and I asked specifically for a sign that I would understand and remember!) Almost immediately, a song popped into my head. I heard very clearly, “All we are saying is give peace a chance,” on a constant loop.
I thought the exercise was a tremendous way to release past attachments and emotions of other people. It was, indeed, a freeing experience. I was not prepared, however, for the next step.
Next is possibility. Next is hope. Next is new beginnings. Next is sewn into the very fabric of forward motion. What are my next steps? What’s the next chapter for me? What’s next on the agenda?
