The Centered Place Yoga Studio
Featuring Svaroopa® Yoga and Svaroopa® Vidya Meditation: styles of yoga and meditation that are easily accessible and profoundly transformative.
We offer classes online, allowing you to stay in the comfort of your own home, and onsite, allowing you to get away and enjoy the company of a few other students in the comfort of a beautiful, peaceful space. Class size is limited to ensure social distancing for your safety.
We tailor yoga poses to suit the individual needs of each student. By ensuring alignment and support, and encouraging compassion and ease rather than force, we create a sense of security and safety for our students. This in turn facilitates release of even the deepest levels of tension. Svaroopa® yoga is much more than a physical workout. It is a meditative practice that brings more peace and joy within. Even after one yoga class, students experience greater tranquility, balance and inner strength. They report feeling a tremendous release of tension and being able to breathe much more easily. They feel more centered and whole, more relaxed and open.
Along with class instruction, we also offer private Embodyment® yoga therapy sessions.
About Phil and Nancy
Phil Milgrom and Nancy Nowak, co-owners and co-directors, have hundreds of hours of training and many years of experience teaching. They have studied under many teachers. Since 1997, they have been studying under the tutelage of the founder of Svaroopa® yoga, Swami Nirmalananda. Since that year, they have been teaching Svaroopa® yoga exclusively. “It’s a style of yoga that we feel more comfortable with. More important, it’s a style our students feel most comfortable with.”
Phil has been practicing yoga since 1970 and teaching since 1974. He is also a motivational speaker and provides stress management and humor workshops nationally. Nancy’s introduction to yoga began as an intern in the UMASS Medical Center’s Center for Mindfulness and Medicine program. She studied directly with the program’s founder, Jon Kabat Zinn. Nancy has taught special, free yoga classes for cancer survivors and friends. The classes were co-sponsored by Rays of Hope and the Baystate Regional Cancer Program at Baystate Mary Lane in Ware, MA.
