Claudia Sheinbaum Just Put Qigong On The World Stage
by Anthony Korahais, Flowing Zen
I took a little break from writing and social media, but I’m back now and I want to talk about the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum. Recently, during a press conference, President Sheinbaum casually mentioned that she practices qigong. Here’s what she said: “And [Rommel] told me, ‘There is another exercise that comes from China called qigong, which is an exercise for health’… So now I am practicing that exercise. Thanks to Rommel, who opened the door for me to this practice, which helps the mind a lot. In fact, I already told him we should see if we can establish the federation for this sport in Mexico…”
Largest Private Conservation Project In The US Hits Major Milestone As Free-Roaming Bison Pass 1,000
by Andy Corbley, Good News Network
As autumn descends upon the Great Plains of North America, the largest private land conservation project in the country is ringing in an inspirational milestone. The resident herd of relatively free-roaming bison now numbers 4 digits for the first time since the organization’s founding more than 20 years ago. American Prairie is a conservation nonprofit that GNN readers may be familiar with. The group is quite simply attempting to stitch together the largest contiguously-wild stretch of North American Prairie in the country for the purpose of conservation and recreation.
‘Book Brigade’ Moves 7,400 Books By Hand To Hintonburg Store’s New Space
by Gabrielle Huston, CBC News
When Ottawa bookstore The Spaniel’s Tale decided to move to a larger space a block away, co-owner Cole Davidson said they had no plans to host a “book brigade.” “[The idea] actually came from our customers, who brought us many, many articles of different bookstores over the years that have done it,” said Davidson. The premise is simple: volunteers form a human chain, and then pass the books down, one-by-one, until they reach their new location. Staff created two lines that stretched down Wellington Street West from the store’s old location to the new location at the corner of Stirling Avenue.

by Ignacio Calderón and Janet Loehrke, USA Today
Chiricahua National Monument just became the country’s newest national park. With legislation cleared by the House of Representatives in March and the Senate on Sept. 30, President Donald Trump signed the bill into law on Oct. 20, creating the country’s 64th national park. This hidden gem is among the smallest national parks, though it provides a diverse landscape, wildlife, dark starry nights and a glimpse of human history. “It has spectacular vistas,” said Emily Burns, a program director at the Sky Island Alliance, which does conservation and restoration work in the region.
10-Year-Old Dog Found After A Month Lost In Yellowstone
by Good News Network
A 10-year-old Jack Russell terrier named Luna was happily reunited with her owners after surviving more than a month on her own in Yellowstone National Park. Luna escaped on Sept. 10 from a locked cabin in the Canyon Village area. Her owners, who were visiting from California, had left her inside with a “Do not disturb” sign while they explored the park, but believe the dog bolted when housekeeping accidentally opened the door. Staff tried to catch her for hours, but she had already vanished into the wilderness. For over a month, Luna was spotted crossing roads, wandering through employee housing, and slipping into lodges through automatic doors.
