Letters to the Editor: Age of Aquarius

Simple Thanks

Dear Editor,

It is with great enthusiasm and pride that I write to thank Linda Marks and the staff of the Spirit of Change Magazine for the uplifting article on Deacon Randy Green and the gospel singers of Silver Leaf.

Like many residents in the community, I’ve had the honor of knowing Deacon Green when I was beset with personal problems (an eviction due to a property sale that caused me to move in with my mother) and he was the first to step in to assist my mother (now 83) and myself in putting up a new fence in the back yard where the previous one had fallen apart leaving my mother vulnerable to intrusion. Randy not only “put up the fence” (which I might add, took the strength of Samson)…but proceeded to clean her yard which needed much work.

Needless to say, it is only one of the many accomplishments of this dedicated and humble man. When you speak of his life experiences and spiritual strength in relationship to those around him, it is the ultimate truth. Through the Creator (God) and His son, Jesus Christ, Deacon Green has forged a path for all mankind, and his gifts continue to elevate all people in response to his ministry and activism.

The Age of Aquarius

Dear Spirit of Change,

Being a magazine with writers versed in the science of astrology, I’m curious if you can answer me this:

Years ago when Hair came to Broadway, it was sung that when the moon is in the 7th house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then peace will guide the planets, and love will steer the stars, because this was the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. Now, nearly 40 years later, there seems to be precious little by way of peace, love, and understanding — and somehow less of it every day.

So tell me please, what’s it all about, this Age of Aquarius?

Hi Jim,

What perfect timing! About a week after receiving your letter, this article link was emailed to us addressing your question. The following is an excerpt from a much longer and interesting article entitled “New Age and World Government” by G. Kumar, editor of The Z Files in Guruvayur Kerala, India. For the full text of the article please visit and search the articles archive. We also welcome more commentary from astrologers and others who are knowledgeable about the great cycles of the Earth. It is generally believed that the Aquarian Age started in the year 2000, 2160 years roughly being the age of a sign. The Piscean Age started at around 200 BCE (Before Common Era). As the Earth's precession is 72 degrees per degree, 2160 years is an age cycle. 25920 years (12 X 2160) is a precessional cycle or a great Plato year or an aeon.

Pisces means fishes and Jesus was the redeemer of the Piscean Age. The Piscean Age emphasized faith. The two fishes of Pisces indicate dualism and during this time, the conflict between religion & science intensified as science rose against blind faith. The belief in an external God was rejected by science.

In astrology, Aquarius is ruled by two planets — Uranus & Saturn. Uranus represents independence and Saturn universal humanism. Humanism postulates that no dogma or political doctrine can save you; only you can save yourself. If you save yourself, you save society, you save the nation and the planet Earth! In other words, universal humanism will be the hallmark of the Aquarian Age.

The astrologic scholar Jeff Jawer remarks in his article "On The Cusp between Pisces and Aquarius" that the Aquarian Age has not arrived. The first Venus transit occurred in 2004 and the next one wlll be in 2012. These 8 years will be like the dark night of the soul, a chaotic period of purgatorial suffering as the planet Earth goes through a dark phase.

Dr. Jose Arguelles, the scholar who brought to light the concept of Harmonic Convergence, also thinks that the enlightening Age of Aquarius will dawn on 2012. The famous song on the Aquarian Age states thus:

When the moon is in the Seventh House And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars.

This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius

All freethinkers are excited about the new Aquarian Age where wisdom will blossom and importance will be on self development, self transformation, self realization and self actualization. Gone are the days of dogma and blind faith. Globalists alone can bring a planetary transformation and not those who champion the cause of a nation or a civilization. The dot com disasters, the 9/11 WTC attack — these are indicators that it is time for us, as a global community, to evolve to a higher level of consciousness and usher in a new age. Personal transformation will result in planetary transformation!

Dear Heron,

Thanks for the info!! Choosetheblue.com helps you steer the course of America’s stars by choosing to spend your money with businesses that support your values. “Blue” is generally supportive of Democratic and progressive values such as social justice, security through world peace, and protecting the environment. “Red” supports a platform of Republican ideals including conservative Christian morality, national security through military might, and strong protection of capitalistism. The color purple is fading fast. It’s time to choose. Your dollars of sales add up to profits, which increases support for either platform of values.

The website lists hundreds of companies. We’ve only chosen a few, focusing on those companies which are making a strong statement by heavily favoring one side or the other. Choose what’s important to you and spend your dollars likewise. Visit http://www.ChooseTheBlue.com for details on data sources. — Editor

Who are http://www.ChooseTheBlue.com? We are ordinary Americans who are concerned about what is happening to our country and the Constitution. Prior to this last election we had not been politically involved beyond voting. Following the November, 2004 elections, we felt powerless when the small margin of victory was claimed as a large mandate by the Republican White House, Senate, and House of Representatives. We wanted to have our voices heard, and felt that one way of doing that was to direct our spending towards companies who support, through their connection with political action committees, and whose employees support, through their political contributions, the candidates and issues in which we believe.

Many of our friends thought this a great idea and we started building ChooseTheBlue.com. Our research has highlighted for us the stunning amount of money that was contributed in the 2003-2004 election cycle that can be traced to political action committees connected to particular corporations and to employees of those corporations. It has been fascinating to trace political contributions and to learn what products belong to which companies. Our goal is to provide people with information about political contributions so they can make informed choices in their purchase of goods and services. We believe that we can make a difference by adjusting our spending.

In compiling the information, we have become aware that there are certain weaknesses in the data and analysis, including a lack of data concerning state and local political contributions, as well as certain soft-money contributions, likely mistakes in some of the reported data, incompleteness in certain data, judgments made about the connection of particular dollars to particular political parties, etc. However, we believe that the information can be very helpful in categorizing companies at a general level.

Dear Friends,

Last issue’s poem by Sandra Kocher on page 69 “Earth Elders: Mohawk State Forest” contained a typo in the year 1960’s. The line should have read: “Truly the old trees astride this slope that saw Indians pass through in the 1600’s are elders of this earth.” Fortunately, enough Indians are still in this region so these tree elders did see Indians pass through in the 1600’s, the 1960’s and well into the present.
