Power Up: Be In Charge Of Your Life And Health

I was driven by what I believed I was supposed to do and how I was supposed to act. I believed what I was told by authorities about what was good for me and what was not. I am sure you know what I mean when I say I cared too much what others thought of me, as I tried to fit in and be accepted by the crowd. I wanted to please and to be acknowledged by others and I lost my power in doing so.
When everything fell apart and my body was too sick to function, truth revealed itself to me. A long process of letting go of old conditioning started. I could see clearly that I had been giving away my inner power and that I had not been true to myself. My wanting to please and perform had kept me from living an authentic heart-felt life in peace with myself and Creation.
To be the one who is making all the decisions and who is in charge and on top of everything must be fantastic! We all want that, right? Well, yes and no.
What does it mean to take full responsibility for our lives and why do most of us not?
From simply living in the Western world, having been born and raised in a society that breeds followers, we are conditioned to follow. We are conditioned to give away our power to an outside authority. When we are not feeling good we go to the doctor. We want someone to take charge and make us feel better. Sometimes calling on those that have an expertise is absolutely necessary, but that is the exception.
To take responsibility does not mean to never seek help or guidance. No man is an island and together we are stronger. Yet when your body is not functioning optimally or any other part of your life is not running smoothly, it is your business. There is never anyone to blame for your experiences; you are the one living with your choices.
When you take charge, you own your whole life — past, present and future. You can change the future by changing your perception of the past. By taking responsibility for the past, a shift happens. You become the authority instead of giving that power to someone else. Every time you give someone the opportunity to change your emotions, you are giving them power, making them the boss. It does not matter what the situation is, was, or what you believe it will be. It’s all about you. You are the most powerful being in your life, the one that holds the key to what you experience and how to change it.
Think of it this way. If only one person could be responsible for everything that you experience, wouldn’t you like yourself to be the one in charge? Once I realized that I was the one that had created the situations in my life, I saw that only I could choose to change them.

Tips On How To Take Charge Of Your Life
1. Make a choice. Decide that you are the boss of your life and that only you can do what is needed to live the life you want. Once you make a decision, stick with it and keep your focus. Give yourself time, be patient and know that everything is going to be ok.
2. Be the authority. We are so used to listening to others that hearing your own voice can be hard. Let go of needing everybody’s opinion and validation; listen more to your own inner knowing. This does not mean that you will not need advice and guidance, but keep your power and trust your own intuition.
3. Get educated. It is important to do your own research about any topic that involves your life. There are so many opinions and so much information out there, only you can find what resonates with you. You are the one that will live the outcome of every decision you make, so make sure you are in charge of it.
4. Take action. Every transformation requires action. We can think all the positive thoughts we want, but without action there is no progress. Get going and once you take a stand and know what you want, walk towards it and do not be afraid of failure. Act like you mean it.
5. Be your own cheerleader. Be your own best friend and support. Speak highly of yourself and think empowering thoughts. Eliminate any complaining and be proud that you are taking charge and being the boss of your life. Once you see how valuable you are, you will also see the same in others. This means you can be a great support for them as well.
6. Let go of the past. Letting go of anything that is holding you back will make a huge shift in your ability to move forward. The past has no bearing on the future or the now if you do not carry it with you. When the past is obstructing your flow, it’s like carrying heavy luggage filled with something you do not want to own. Once you are free from these burdens of past experiences, freedom will empower you to make better decisions in the now.
7. Start today! The only time and the best time is always now. Procrastination takes you nowhere; it is merely a resistance to change. Analyze why you would resist doing what needs to be done and work on setting goals for your life and your health today.
