The Sun in Cancer (June 21-July 21)
Summer begins before dawn on Sunday June 21st, with the Sun’s entry into Cancer. The summer solstice marks the maximum hours of daylight in the northern hemisphere. The illuminating light of the Sun is at its greatest power. The solstice horoscope is complicated, yet revealing. The nourishing Cancer Sun, a male archetype in a feminine water sign, is at odds with Neptune, Saturn and the waxing Moon. By Tuesday July 21st, Jupiter’s expansive energies blend with these three outermost planets. The Sun in Leo (July 22-21)
Leo Sun season begins on Wednesday, July 22nd. These are ordinarily the hottest days of summer. Travel enthusiasts and political junkies are enthused by the Sun’s pending conjunction with outspoken Jupiter. The fiery duo are given to oratory, and having fun. Both are also opposite Pluto, the planet of power and transformation. Discussions and debates sharpen in facts and impact. The end of the week brings uplifting news and enjoyable events. On Thursday the 23rd, Mercury stations and then resumes forward motion. Newfound realism combines with genuine good will, facilitating surprising new alliances and restoring others.
As the weekend of July 25-26 progresses, the Moon is waxing and mixed trends intensify. Saturn turns retrograde in Aries Sunday afternoon. A slowdown is advisable, even though the waxing Moon is accelerating the pace of life. Be extra considerate and aware of the impact your words and actions have on others.
The volatile Aquarius full Moon is exact on busy Wednesday, July 29. The Moon is conjunct Pluto while the opposing Sun is conjunct Jupiter. Secrets are likely to be outed. Savants, sensitive souls and clairvoyants may sense the approach of the summer eclipse season. But first, darling Venus lights up moods on Monday the 10th and Tuesday the 11th. Monday could see successful negotiations. Tuesday hosts an extremely active sky pattern. Expect to be busy and enjoying life immensely.

After a solidly satisfying day, the night of Saturday the 22nd sees the Sun enter Virgo. There will be a great deal of reminiscing this weekend. It’s a good time to make amends or extend a kindness. We spend the following days under a waxing Moon. The tempo of life gradually increases. By Thursday, August 27th, the Sun is conjunct Mercury. Minds and senses are hyper alert. Just minutes after midnight on Friday the 28th, the Moon is full and partially eclipsed in Pisces. The opposing Sun, Mercury and Moon are all at odds with rebellious Uranus. A disclosure can be devastating for certain individuals. The likelihood of unexpected complications is immense. Stay humble, laugh at life’s ironies and most of all, be ready to improvise. I am reminded of Isabel Hickey’s prescient observation that “Uranus brings change for the better.”
September arrives with Mars testing Saturn, a reminder to carefully weigh efforts versus rewards. Sort out options and decide what needs to be reduced, removed or abandoned. On the morning of Tuesday, September 1st, a family member could require a pep talk or a course correcting reprimand. The early days of September have a lively feel. Many folks feel energized as the Labor Day holiday weekend approaches. Overall, the days are enjoyable.
Post holiday travel is complicated by Uranus’ retrograde turn on Thursday, September 10th. This is a day of many changes. Venus enters Scorpio, Mercury enters Libra and late at night the Moon is new in Virgo. The net effect can be dizzying. Nevertheless, a new activity cycle begins. What do you wish to accomplish this month? Clarity, determination and momentum increase over the weekend of the 12th and 13th. Mercury’s alignments with Pluto, Neptune and Uranus suggest that universal forces will conspire to help you reach your goals. On Monday, September 14th, the Sun’s sextile to Mars provides the raw energy to get things done.
Venus is at odds with Pluto the afternoon of Tuesday the 15th. Be wary of manipulative words, misrepresentations, subtle or overt coercions as well as veiled threats. A quest for trust and intimacy can be rewarding. Tuesday night’s Neptune/Pluto sextile highlights the power and potential of intentions. Personal pleas are effective. Social movements, charitable and progressive causes are championed.
Take a long hard look at what is going on around you later in the week. Mercury is at odds with Saturn early Friday morning, a reminder to commit fully to the projects and people you care about. The same aspect also makes it very clear there is only so much time and energy at anyone’s disposal. This could be the time to end a commitment or say no to a request.
Virgo season concludes with Monday, September 21st’s fine sextile between Mercury and Jupiter. Minds open. Hopes are elevated, optimism pervades meetings and conversations. Travel and learning are facilitated. Fans of autumn now eagerly await the coming equinox.
