by Good News Network
At the age of 14, Dylan was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer—and doctors gave him just eight months to live. But he’s alive today thanks to Dr. Mary Austin, who not only treated his disease, but transformed his thinking—through friendship and a solemn promise. by Andy Corbley, Good News Network
The largest renewable energy infrastructure project in US history is fully operational. The SunZia project is expected to generate and deliver more power than the Hoover Dam and be a reliable energy to the western United States for the next 30 years. At full capacity, the project can deliver enough energy to power approximately one million American homes annually.
Knowledge Keepers Creating Inventory Of Medicinal Plants Found On Land Shared By Prairie Farmers
by Darla Ponace, CBC
Linda Obey-Lavallee learned all about plants — how to read them, how to pick them properly, their medicinal properties — from her late husband Harold Lavallee, who learned from his grandparents. Obey-Lavallee, from Piapot First Nation, is a traditional picker and knowledge keeper of medicinal plants. Whenever she enters an area, she makes sure to say a prayer and lay down tobacco before picking. It shows respect to the land and to Mother Earth for providing the medicines we need, she said. “When I am out there picking, I’ll only take what I need,” she said.

by GOV, UK
Children will be given back their childhoods thanks to government action to ban social media platforms from offering services to under-16s, with less time for scrolling and more time for play. The plans will set a new normal for future generations, kickstarting a cultural shift and driving forward the government’s fight to give every child the best start in life. The government plans to use the same model for a social media ban as Australia. This would capture user-to-user platforms, whose purpose is to enable social interaction and which allow users to post material, alongside algorithms.

by Marissa J. Lang, NPR
The summer of 2026 was going to be a triumphant debut for former National Park Ranger Elizabeth Kerwin. Kerwin, who used to be the exhibit planner at West Virginia’s Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, had spent years building a wall of remembrance to highlight hundreds of enslaved people with ties to this historic site — best known as the place where a violent raid on the town’s armory led to an uprising that helped end American slavery. Instead, the old stone building that was set to house Kerwin’s exhibit has sat empty. The door, locked. Its windows boarded up.
