Mind & Spirit

From The Heart of A Dwarf Spruce Tree

I am a dwarf spruce tree. The hands that planted me did so tenderly. The days passed and turned into years, my branches reaching out and up. I weathered storms, snow, and drought. I never gave up. My branches served as perches for birds to hide from predators and hunt for food.

A Wild Encounter With A Colt

The next thing I knew, I found myself face-to-face with two beautiful horses. My breath caught in my throat as adrenaline coursed through my body. I noted both excitement and fear as I evaluated our proximity. I backed away slowly, never averting my gaze.

Softening With The Years

I hope to soften as the years go by: my voice, my thoughts, my footsteps. My heart. More love, kindness, and gratitude; less worry, fear, judgment. More listening, less talking. Of course, I am already in the age bracket people refer to as “older.” Older than what or whom, I’m not sure.

The Christmas Finch

On a December night, I mindlessly flung the front door open, and in flew a bird. Panic-stricken and late for an evening out, I tried in vain to guide the purple finch out the door. When my efforts failed, I shut the doors in the house, covered the furniture with sheets, and hoped for the best.

Consciously Creating Healing In The New Year

Explore deeper self-healing as a higher purpose. Find something that is healing to you, and that you enjoy, and consciously allow your cells to receive this food or therapy or new belief as a healing tool. See the healing your cells want, and feel them receive it.

How Hypnosis Works

Hypnosis has been found to be effective for treating irritable bowel syndrome, and it may be beneficial for weight reduction, sleep disorders and anxiety. For mild to moderate depression in adults, hypnotherapy is as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy, and it can help with depression in children.

The Brain Hack That Reduces Pain Naturally

The most powerful tool for managing pain isn’t in your medicine cabinet — it’s in your head. Before you dismiss this as some new age wishful thinking, let me tell you about a breakthrough study that’s changing everything we thought we knew about pain management.

Six Ways To Reduce Loneliness This Christmas

Christmas itself is hard if not possible to escape from entirely. But there are things you can do to manage your experience if you plan to spend time by yourself over advent. You can decide what Christmas means to you, and how you want to spend it, and that is a gift.

Tips To Remain Open To Synchronistic Opportunity

Within each of our Earthly experiences, there are important lessons we’ve chosen to learn. Recognize the people, places and things you have attracted into your life all represent opportunities to learn the lessons that are most conducive to your evolutionary path.

How To Let Things Go

Those who have the power to let things go are not at the mercy of their personal relationships. Those who have the power to let things go are able to eliminate distractions at work. Those who have the power to let things go are able to spend their days in relative ease.

After The Election

When I woke up Wednesday morning, I felt a strength emerging from within me. I felt an inner nod, a rolling up of my sleeves. “Yep, here we are. Now let’s get to work.” America is one body. There is no point in the liver fighting the spleen. It’s “go” time.

Breaking Boxes

Boxes can be quite useful and have their place—temporary storage to keep things safe, out of harm’s way. But I have also witnessed other kinds of boxes—boxes that are invisible, are persistent, and when our consciousness expands, we see they are sinister.

Angel Of America

We are asked by our own souls to hold all our fellow citizens, whether winners or losers, in blessing and in light so that whatever the outcome, we are still taking steps, however large or small, towards the unity and wholeness for which our country was founded.

Native Land Reparation Pledge Project

These small pledges amount to billions of dollars, benefiting Native communities in crucial ways: economic development, education, health care, cultural preservation, infrastructure development, social services, community programs and more.

The Addiction No One Wants To Admit To

We need to look within for the solutions to our happiness, in conjunction with what is available on the screen, and figure out how to make it our own. The more curious we are about exploring our uniqueness, the more we can awaken to our genuine path of fulfillment, and not someone else’s.

The Beauty Of Human Energy

What my latest illness has done is given me a portal into this arena of human endeavor on behalf of humanity. It has made me even more aware of the beauty of our human energy and creativity as we seek to make the world a better, safer, healthier place. Now, I take into my body not poison, not chemicals, but Light flowing from this human energy.

The Path Of Most Resistance

I’m standing at the gates of Heaven, looking down at the mass chaos brewing on Earth below me. I’m still adjusting to my soul having just jumped into this strange meat suit known as a human body. I’m squirming as I try to get comfortable in this costume I’ll be wearing for the next who-knows-how-many Earth decades.

We Are Always Connected To The Spirit World

There are two defining moments in every human’s physical lifetime: birth and death. While they’re totally different in the obvious way, I tend to view death as a form of birth. It’s just that death is your doorway to the other side, in that you’re born back into the spirit world.
