Who among us hasn’t heard that inner voice gaslighting us by reinforcing the mantra “You are not good enough”? Comparing ourselves to others can compress our possibilities for potential growth in all areas of our lives. When you're on the right path, things just magically seem to fall into place.
The month of February dedicated to Black history continues to stir controversy. However, we can't continue to ignore the fact that although we have made progress towards racial unity, we still have ways to go towards racial harmony, understanding and tolerance, if not acceptance.
The next time you encounter a mentally ill person, will your assessment of them will be based on their perceived disabilities stemming from stereotypes or stigma, or their actual abilities and accomplishments in spite of their mental illnesses?
