The rising arc of the Sun and longer daylight hours are most welcome during this old-timey cold winter. Another significant winter storm is in store for the Northeast. Hunker down and take a look with me at the late winter stars.

As we begin the second half of February, the Aquarius Sun is moving steadily along. We are under the influence of a waning Libra Moon. Awareness of significant others is heightened and lunar opposition to Venus makes Saturday, February 16, a promising one for parties and other gatherings.

Sunday’s plans however, are more precarious. The Moon’s strident square to Mars and the forecasted snow, rain, and high winds require caution. It is wise to be polite, and when it comes to traveling, it is best to play it safe and stay home.

Monday the 17th is President’s Day, and not without controversy. Protests against the policies of the current White House occupant are planned in multiple states. The Moon’s final aspect while in Libra is a Monday evening trine to the Aquarius Sun. Coming at the fateful final degree of their respective signs, the trine supports fair play, dignity and respect for democratic ideals.

The early morning of Tuesday the 18th, sees the Sun enter watery Pisces, the transitional sign that takes us from the icy depths of frozen winter to the promise of spring. Life feels busy, and emotional tides are strong this week. On Thursday the 20th, the last quarter Moon in Sagittarius and mental Mercury’s testing square to Jupiter can both be challenging. Minds are likely be in overdrive. Keep things simple. Be careful not to stress over things that are not your own.

Planning, discipline and persistence are needed if you want your projects to succeed. These qualities are readily available on Friday the 28th, potentially a very productive day to cap off the month.

A Friday afternoon slowdown leads into a mellow Saturday. Sunday the 23rd, brings a jolt of energy. Fiery Mars, retrograde in Cancer, resumes forward motion while forming trines to Mercury and Saturn. These next few days are an excellent period for making decisions and commitments. Put your home in better working order. It will be hard to ignore reality or responsibilities. The coming week, free of retrogrades, flies by. On March 1st, gracious Venus will turn retrograde in Aries.

The waning Moon is new in Pisces the evening of Thursday the 27th. Luna is conjunct the Sun while Saturn, Mercury, Neptune and the lunar North Node are all in the mysteriously creative Sign of the Fishes. As you set your intentions and prepare for the new activity cycle, do so with confidence. Goals can be profound and compelling. Friends, supporters and like-minded souls are present to help make dreams come true.

However, be careful not to stretch yourself too thin. Planning, discipline and persistence are needed if you want your projects to succeed. These qualities are readily available on Friday the 28th, potentially a very productive day to cap off the month.
