Seven Practical Tips To Boost Your Self-Healing Power
Dive deeply into the fountain of healing intelligence within you, where you will find valuables you did not even know were yours.
Our greatest joy and responsibility to this planet is to be brave enough, willing enough, tender enough to choose kindness. — Lori McCray
When so much of life feels out of your control on the outside, this presents an opportunity to double down on increasing your self-healing power within. Dive deeply into the fountain of healing intelligence within you, where you will find valuables you did not even know were yours. Humans come fully equipped with the abilities to feed, house, procreate, kill and even heal ourselves. We are meant to thrive! Our bodies have vast natural self-healing capabilities when we put our minds to it.
Putting our minds into healing our bodies is exactly how we harness our innate self-healing superpower. Mainstream medicine generally minimizes healing via a belief in healing as “merely” the placebo effect, because it cannot measure or provide evidence for the success. Yet, if the belief produces healing as good as or better than the treatment itself, obviously the belief is a key component of healing. This should figure heavily in the future of medical research, not just drugs.
In fact, a recent University of Michigan Medicine article reported, “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the organization that regulates which medicines are allowed to go to the consumer market, requires that all new medicines be tested in randomized controlled trials that show they are better than placebo treatments…But studies have shown that the placebo effect is so strong that many drugs don’t provide more relief than placebo treatments.”
Don’t wait for an okay from the FDA or the court of public opinion to decide to power up your healing. Start now! Self-healing is as much a natural survival skill as feeding ourselves. Just like cooking, a huge array of tools and ingredients are available so you can fine-tune your healing experience to uniquely match your needs and preferences. The more you learn and practice, the more your skill develops, but anyone can easily learn the basics since self-healing is a natural bodily function.
Other than life and limb emergencies — and sometimes even those — our bodies can naturally heal everything that is in our highest good to heal. However, not all health conditions are meant to heal, or may take longer than we’d like. Many illnesses present hidden opportunities in our lives to learn and grow personally: how to receive care, how to give care, how to slow down and listen within, or even as a practicum on how to develop your own healing skill. We all need something to practice on! And of course, we all need something to die from.
In the meantime, there is no greater kindness you can perform towards yourself or the world than advancing your own self-healing. When you heal, that means the world heals, too! Even if it’s just a tiny little bit, it matters to you and to us.
Here’s some practical tips to help build confidence in your self-healing skill.
1. Say Yes To Your Symptoms
Every symptom your body presents is an expression of its attempt to maintain balance, homeostasis and survival for the highest good of all. No expert, diagnostic program or computer knows exactly what your body needs for total wellbeing better than its own healing wisdom. Your job is to be observant of a symptom as a signal, and say, “Yes. Thanks for the message. What do I need to know?”
If the signal is unbearable pain or disability, the message is “Get help!” But the vast majority of our symptoms are the body’s call to pay attention, listen in, and make a healthy life adjustment. Say “yes” to your symptom, and find out what it has to share before automatically rejecting it.
2. Think Project, Not Problem
Reframe your symptoms and diseases as healing projects you are working on, not health problems you (or someone else!) must solve. Most of us avoid unwelcome problems in our lives, but are much more inclined to work on a fun or challenging project. When your self-healing is a project of your choice, this boosts your confidence, skill and chances for success.
3. Now What Am I Going To Do?
When a symptom arises you want to address, ask yourself, “Now what am I going to do?” Answer with, “I’m going to heal this.” Every conscious affirmation of your healing intention fires up neural connections in your brain that have long been waiting to activate your healing potential. Once you are ready, you can flip the switch. Henry Ford observed, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.” Your body wants nothing more than to heal and to thrive; choose, yes, I can.
4. Open A Healing Savings Account
The mechanism of healing throughout the body is the flow of life force, called qi or chi, through an etheric system of energy meridians and points. This system and instructions for its access have been precisely mapped out and described by various cultures throughout history, and the information passed down through self-healing traditions such as acupressure, Reiki, qigong, Jin Shin Jyutsu, EFT, Eminus Mirus and hundreds more.
You can learn to feel this energy moving throughout your body and manipulate its flow to heal. Best part is: it doesn’t hurt! Self-healing actually feels good, doesn’t cost money, requires no appointments or insurance approval, and has no negative side effects. Tapping into any of these healing systems by learning and practicing a technique or two on a regular basis establishes a healing savings account for you. Regular deposits of self-healing treatments when you are symptom-free gives you healing reserves to draw on when you need them.
A friend uses reflexology on the feet and hands to deal with medical issues in every part of the body. This is made very easy to do by the fact you can feel “reflexology pain” when pressing a spot that relates to any organ or body part that is in need of healing. For example, by pressing the outside edges of the hands and feet it is easy to send healing energy to all the joints, starting with the shoulders, which are healed by pressing the area at the base of the little toe and pinkie finger. You can even work these areas while you’re on the computer by pressing those spots on the edge of the computer table.
5. Touch for Health Everyday
Your hands are powerful healing instruments attached right onto your body. Use them in every way you can to instantly soothe hurt, clear imbalance, send healing and prevent scarring and further damage to the site of any injury. You do not need any special training for the intentional placement of your healing hand to become strong medicine. However, receiving training in any energy healing modality involving hand transmission will increase your personal skill and potency.
6. Meditate
It’s boring to start — no doubt about it — but the longer you practice meditation, the deeper you can dive within to the quiet place where you can hear your body tell you what it needs, and feel the buzz of chi flowing through your meridians. During meditation your body sinks into a deeply healing and relaxing state, bathing all your cells in a sonic vibration of reset and rejuvenation. Start with one minute of meditation, then two, then five, and go wherever it takes you. Try taking a meditation class or join a group to support you as learn and practice. In just a few short years, the rewards lasting the rest of your life will be so worth the efforts.
If you believe meditation is absolutely impossible for you, consider a practice called “letting the mud settle,” just sitting, looking out the window or staring at a candle flame, and letting whatever is there to be there. This, too, will guide you to go within and plug into the stream of healing intelligence overseeing your health at every moment.
7. Find Supportive Media
Read books, listen online and attend classes or gatherings affirming your natural healing abilities. The Abraham-Hicks daily quote is a rich and unique resource that will support your emerging self-healing skills through harnessing the power of your healing beliefs. Sign up via email is free. “Any malady in your physical body was a lot longer in coming than it takes to release it.” Receiving this quote is a daily reminder to expand the mental possibilities of your healing ability so you can experience for yourself the freedom and relief self-healing brings.
